Comment today on the FCC's Net Neutrality Docket (with Chicago-centric links!)
On July 15, 2014, the Federal Communications Commission will close the first round of comments on its net neutrality docket. This is a critical docket -- in that it represents the direction the FCC will put the internet, and perhaps all of communications, for the foreseeable future.
What is encouraging is that, as a result of a massive and historic public outcry, the FCC has put on the table a policy solution that is seen as a genuine help -- a reclassification of the internet as a Title Two Telecommunications Service. This would help preserve the internet as a public resource.
You are strongly encouraged to comment on the FCC docket for net neutrality by July 15th, and in particular do two things -- (1) Tell your story about the positive ways a neutral internet has affected you, (2) Ask -- demand! -- that the FCC reclassify the internet as a Title Two Telecommunications Service.
Commenting on the docket is easy. You can do so online from the form set up at the website of the Save The Internet coalition: http://www.savetheinternet.com/sti-home
If you need more information on the issue, these are just some resources to use --
