Dear Radio Friend,
This week's show features stories from Spanish National Radio, Radio Havana Cuba, NHK World Radio Japan, and Sputnik Radio

From SPAIN- Alison Hughes reports on the US withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council, with Nikki Haley saying it was over biased treatment of Israel. It was also one day after the Human Rights High Commissioner called the US separation of migrants and children "unconscionable." Then segments of an article by Patrick Cockburn entitled "Attacking Hodeidah is a deliberate act of cruelty by the Trump administration." The Saudi-UAE war on Yemen, with the assistance of the US and Britain, is turning from humanitarian disaster into a catastrophe.

From CUBA- Central American countries and Mexico, along with most other nations, denounced the US policy of separating immigrant families. Police in France prevented 2 boats from a Gaza bound flotilla from docking in the Seine River. Israeli cabinet ministers authorized a bill making it a crime to film Israeli soldiers attacking Palestinians. The Iranian foreign minister accused Israeli nuclear weapons as a “real threat" to the Middle East and the rest of the world, calling for a debate on the 80-400 nuclear bombs Israel possesses.

From JAPAN- The US and S Korea agreed to suspend joint military exercises scheduled for August. The N Korean leader Kim Jong-un wants denuclearization to be carried out in stages with the backing of China. Italy plans to conduct a census of ethnic Roma people with an eye to deporting those without Italian nationality.

From RUSSIA- Afshin Rattansi interviewed Jennifer Robinson, a lawyer for Julian Assange, trying to free him after being holed up for 6 years in the Ecuadoran embassy in London. The British government could guarantee Julian's passage out without fear of extradition to the US but has not been willing to commit to that. Also the DNC has filed a lawsuit against Wikileaks and Assange for theft of campaign information.
